OUR REHOMED DOGS

Gunta

Gunta came into our care following a surrender organised by a compassionate breeder who has previously helped place dachshunds safely through All 4 Dachshunds via her network.

At the time of surrender, Gunta required desexing and had a noticeable lump that needed veterinary investigation. From the moment he arrived, every volunteer who met him fell in love — Gunta is a truly gentle, affectionate little gentleman with the sweetest nature.

Following his desexing procedure, it was confirmed that the lump was in fact a perineal hernia, requiring specialist surgery. Once he had recovered from his initial procedure, Gunta was booked in for corrective surgery and made a full recovery.

Around this time, a family reached out after recently losing one of their beloved dachshunds in a tragic accident. Their remaining dachshund was clearly grieving, and while the family weren’t certain they were ready for another dog, they hoped a companion might help their girl heal.

Once Gunta had recovered from his hernia repair, a meet-and-greet was arranged. Shelley transported him to meet his potential new family and canine sister. From the moment they met, it was clear this was meant to be. Gunta and his new sister bonded instantly, and there were many happy tears as he confidently explored his new home, offering plenty of affectionate licks to seal the deal.

Today, Gunta is thriving — deeply loved, cherished, and helping to heal a family that had experienced heartbreak twice over. This adoption was especially meaningful, as the family had previously adopted a rescue dachshund placed with them through All 4 Dachshunds several years earlier.

Sometimes the universe steps in to bring comfort, healing and hope — and Gunta’s journey is one of those very special moments.

Louie

Meet Louie, who spent an extended period in foster care while waiting for his perfect forever home.

Louie needed a patient, understanding environment — a home where he could take the time to learn boundaries and feel secure, particularly when left alone or out on walks. With the right support, Louie showed just how much potential he had to thrive.

Everything changed when an application came through from a lovely family in Far North Queensland. They reached out to ask whether it would be possible to travel south to meet Louie, and if all went well, welcome him home.

After thoughtful conversations and careful planning with Louie’s foster carer, a plan was put in place. The very next weekend, the family flew down from Cairns, stayed in Brisbane, and met Louie in person.

It was love at first meeting — for Louie and for his new family. They spent time getting to know each other before making the decision to drive him home rather than fly, ensuring Louie felt calm and supported every step of the way.

Today, Louie is living his very best life in a beautiful beachside town, adored by his family and finally enjoying the stability and love he waited so patiently for.

 🐾 Billy’s Happy Tail 🐾

Meet Billy, a gorgeous red standard dachshund who came into our care through no fault of his own. To help us better understand his personality and needs, Billy spent some time with Tracey at Adventure Paws Dog Training —and it didn’t take long for his sweet nature to shine through.

Billy is a gentle, affectionate boy who gets along beautifully with other dachshunds. He has a calm, easygoing personality and quickly stole our hearts.

On our adoption register, we had a lovely family with a little dachshund who was feeling a bit lonely when his best human friend was at school. It felt like the perfect match — so we arranged a meet and greet.

We're thrilled to share that Billy has now found his forever home with his new fur brother Rafa, a human brother to play with, and doting parents who absolutely adore him. He’s already being loved and spoiled, just as he deserves.

We wish you all the happiness in the world, Billy! 💛

Sushi

Meet Sushi, who came into our care after struggling to coexist with a larger kelpie-type dog in his previous home — and after showing a little too much interest in the resident chickens.

To set Sushi up for success, he spent time with Tracey at Adventure Paws Dog Training, where he undertook socialisation training alongside dogs of other breeds. Sushi responded beautifully and made excellent progress.

Around this time, a wonderful family on our waiting list reached out. They already had a relaxed, easy-going dachshund and were looking for a companion who would be a good match. After learning about Sushi, they arranged a meet-and-greet, including time with Tracey, who was able to provide guidance on Sushi’s ongoing needs to help him settle smoothly into his new home.

We’re delighted to share that Sushi has transitioned wonderfully. He has bonded with his new canine brother and is thriving with his family. Not long after his adoption, we received a lovely update from a long-time supporter who spotted Sushi and his brother walking happily with their new dad along the Noosa esplanade — clearly enjoying their new life together.

A heartfelt thank you to Sushi’s new family for opening their hearts and home and giving him the forever home he deserves.

KEIKO - failed foster

Beautiful, gentle Keiko came into our care at just seven months old after being surrendered by a breeder who wanted nothing more than the very best forever home for him. Keiko has a paw deformity, however from the outset it was clear that this didn’t slow him down one bit.

Keiko settled quickly into foster care with Rosalie and her pack, embracing life exactly as a puppy should — full of joy, energy and mischief. He raced around the house, soaked up every moment of play, and most of all, was always first in line for cuddles. Gentle, affectionate and eager to please, Keiko quickly won the hearts of everyone he met.

Specialist consultations were sought to assess the best options for managing his missing toes. After careful consideration, it was determined that Keiko was functioning perfectly and required no intervention, with the best outcome being to simply let him live his life unhindered.

Rosalie had a particular home in mind for Keiko — one filled with love, other dachshunds, larger dogs, chickens, and plenty of human companionship. The arrangement began as a foster-to-adopt placement, as the family was still grieving the recent loss of two much-loved senior dachshunds and felt it may be too soon.

But Keiko had other plans. From the very beginning, he fitted in seamlessly, loving everyone instantly and bringing warmth and joy back into the home. We like to think those senior girls knew their mum needed healing and sent Keiko along to help mend her heart.

We’re thrilled to share that Keiko has now been officially adopted and is right where he was always meant to be — safe, loved, and home for good.

Sometimes, it really is just meant to be 🐾✨

Cinnamon

Beautiful Cinnamon (Cinni) came into our care after being surrendered with IVDD, a condition that so often changes a dachshund’s world overnight. From the beginning, Cinni showed just how special she was.

She was managed conservatively with medication, strict crate rest, daily physiotherapy and massage — and through patience, dedication and a whole lot of heart, Cinni made an incredible recovery. She went from needing intensive support to walking independently, and on her best days could even be seen running around the backyard, especially when chasing the local bush turkey at her foster home.

Like many IVDD survivors, Cinni continued to have good days and quieter days. At times her back appeared a little more arched or she walked unsteadily after resting, but with gentle movement she quickly found her rhythm again. Throughout her recovery, she formed close bonds with the three dachshunds she shared her foster home with and loved their companionship.

True to her dachshund nature, Cinni adored basking in the sunshine, curling up close to her humans and spending time on laps. She learned to use the doggy door, spun excited circles while waiting for her meals, and greeted her carers each morning with her signature “howwooooh” hello ❤️ Her sweet personality captured every heart she met.

When the time was right, the perfect forever home came along — a calm, loving household where Cinni could enjoy a quiet life with plenty of companionship and understanding. She has now settled beautifully into her forever home, where she is cherished, adored and supported every day.

Cinnamon’s journey is a testament to resilience, patience and the power of love. We couldn’t be happier knowing this special little girl is exactly where she was always meant to be — safe, happy and home for good 🐾✨

OUR DOGS CONT.

SNITZEL

Snitzel’s owner reached out to us seeking assistance to find him a new home after relocating from acreage to suburban living and needing to downsize.

Snitzel was best suited to a home where someone would be around most of the time, ideally with the companionship of another dachshund friend.

Around the same time, an application came through from a gentleman who had recently lost his much-loved senior dachshund and was feeling understandably lonely. A meet-and-greet was arranged — and from that moment, it was clear the match was meant to be.

Snitzel happily hopped into the car and headed off to his new home, where he quickly settled in. He soon made friends with the neighbouring dachshund, who now spends many of her days keeping him company while her owners are at work.

Today, Snitzel is a very happy boy, and his new owner is completely smitten. They are enjoying their days together, building a beautiful bond and creating new memories.

As always, it’s about what’s best for the dog — and just as we had hoped, Snitzel and his new dad shared a joyful Christmas together. We wish them every happiness in the years ahead 🐾✨

BERTIE

Meet Bertie, a beautiful red standard dachshund who was looking for a home with older children and someone around most of the time — as Bertie absolutely adores human company.

During his time in foster care, Bertie had a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow. He learned to be respectful of his furry foster brother, practised walking politely on lead (most of the time!), and discovered that while barking at everyone isn’t ideal, it’s perfectly acceptable to alert the household if something doesn’t seem quite right.

After some time, the perfect family came along — a mum and her young adult son and daughter — who were ready to welcome a new companion into their lives. With the young adults increasingly busy with work and study, mum was spending a lot of time at home and was looking for a loyal, loving companion.

A meet-and-greet was arranged, and it was love at first sight. Bertie quickly found his place as the much-loved family dog and a devoted companion to his new human mum.

Today, Bertie’s days are filled with beach walks and exploring rock pools, cuddling up on the lounge, and continuing his training with a professional trainer to polish his public manners — learning that not every dog he meets wants to be his best friend.

Bertie has settled beautifully into his forever home and is clearly thriving. He has landed firmly on all four paws, and we love receiving regular messages and photos from his new mum showing just how happy and content he is 🐾✨

SLINKY

Meet Slinky, a gorgeous six-year-old red smooth-haired dachshund from Western Sydney.

Slinky had lived happily with his family for many years, but a move into apartment living proved challenging for him. He struggled to adjust to the change and was clearly missing the space, routine and companionship he needed to thrive. With Slinky’s wellbeing at heart, his family made the difficult decision to seek a new home that could better meet his needs.

Once Slinky was listed on our website, the response was immediate. Within hours, we received an application that ticked every box — and even more remarkably, the prospective adopters lived in the same suburb, less than four minutes away.

After a couple of phone conversations, a meet-and-greet was arranged, and it was love at first sight. Adoption paperwork was completed, and Slinky happily headed off to join his new mum and dad.

Today, Slinky is thriving in his new home, enjoying a secure yard to explore and the comfort of having someone home most of the time to keep him company. One of the most heartwarming parts of Slinky’s story is that he still occasionally meets up with his previous family — including his former canine sibling — during walks, allowing everyone to see just how happy and settled he is.

As always, our focus is what’s best for the dachshund. Slinky’s rehoming is a beautiful example of a positive, compassionate outcome for everyone involved — and we couldn’t be happier for Slinky, his new family, and his former family alike 🐾✨

MARLI

Meet Marli, a beautiful black and tan miniature dachshund who came into our care after experiencing difficulties living with other female dachshunds in her previous home.

Marli was located in Far North Queensland, and while we were initially unsure whether a suitable local home would come forward, the perfect match soon appeared. A wonderful family reached out, hoping to find a companion for their resident dachshund, Dash.

From the moment they met, it was clear Marli had found her place. We’re delighted to share that Dash and Marli have since become the very best of friends. Marli has confidently stepped into the role of household “guard dog,” with Dash proudly acting as her second-in-command.

Today, Marli is thriving — settled, secure, and deeply loved as a valued member of her forever family. Her story is a beautiful reminder that the right match can be found, no matter the distance 🐾✨

RUBY

Meet Ruby, a delightful red dachshund who came into our care after changes in her family’s circumstances meant she was struggling to cope with her new environment.

While in foster care, Ruby sadly suffered an IVDD episode. Thanks to the quick thinking of her experienced foster carer, who immediately recognised the symptoms, Ruby was rushed to emergency care. At assessment, Ruby was unable to walk, and a CT scan confirmed disc material present in her spinal canal.

To give Ruby the very best chance of regaining mobility, surgery was recommended and performed to remove the disc material. Unfortunately, Ruby’s post-operative recovery was slow. A naturally anxious little girl, she found the busy hospital environment overwhelming, which made her rehabilitation particularly challenging.

We were incredibly fortunate when a dedicated IVDD support volunteer offered to care for Ruby in a calm home environment and commence her rehabilitation. With a tailored rehabilitation plan developed by a specialist canine rehabilitation therapist, Ruby began to make slow but steady progress through weeks of careful physio, rest and ongoing support.

As Ruby’s recovery continued, a lovely couple reached out after following her journey and progress online, asking whether they could be considered as her forever family once she was ready. After eight weeks of rehabilitation, Ruby was finally ready to take the next step, and a meet-and-greet was arranged.

Today, Ruby is thriving in her forever home with her new mum and dad. She’s back on all four paws, living near the beach, zooming happily around her apartment — and frequently being reminded to slow down, as Ruby clearly hasn’t learned that word yet.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who played a role in Ruby’s recovery and rehabilitation, and especially thankful to her forever family for opening their hearts and home to this beautiful girl. Ruby’s journey is a powerful reminder of what patience, expertise and love can achieve 🐾✨

OBI - failed foster

Obi came into rescue care sharing his foster home with another dachshund. It didn’t take long for him to completely win over his foster mum, settling seamlessly into daily life and becoming a perfect fit in the household.

From puppercinos and playdates to regular walks and adventures, Obi embraced every moment. Although his foster mum had cared for many foster dachshunds before, Obi proved to be the one who finally convinced her to join the much-loved “failed foster” club. The bond was undeniable — they’ve even enjoyed a mini holiday together.

And so, Obi’s foster placement officially became his forever home.

Welcome to the Failed Foster Club, Shailea and Obi — we couldn’t be happier knowing Obi has found his perfect match. As always, it’s all about the dachshunds, and Obi has truly landed on all four paws.

Enjoy your new life, sweet Obi, and thank you, Shailea, for opening your heart and home to this special boy.
You can follow Obi’s adventures at @a_nourished_snag 🐾✨

BUNNINGS

Bunnings’ original family made the difficult decision to surrender him after realising that their older dog was struggling to cope with the energy of a lively sixteen-week-old puppy. With Bunnings’ best interests at heart, they believed there would be a more suitable home where he could truly thrive.

Bunnings entered foster care with a family who had recently joined All 4 Dachshunds as new foster carers. He quickly settled in and formed strong friendships with their resident dachshund, Luna, as well as their Labrador puppy, who was around the same age.

Fast forward to today, and we’re delighted to share that this foster placement has officially become a forever home. The bond was undeniable, and our wonderful foster carers have now joined the ever-growing “failed foster” club.

As always, it’s all about what’s best for the dachshunds — and Bunnings is now a very happy, much-loved little boy, thriving with his forever family 🐾✨

MEIKO

Beautiful Meiko came into our care after changes in her previous owners’ circumstances meant she was struggling to adjust to a new environment.

From the very beginning, it was clear that Meiko would need a very special home. She is an exceptionally gentle, sweet-natured girl who simply wanted a human of her own — someone she could love deeply and devote herself to completely.

Several potential homes were considered, but none felt quite right until a retired lady reached out after recently losing her beloved senior dachshund. She was looking for a little soul to love, and Meiko was looking for exactly that in return.

A meet-and-greet was arranged, although it quickly became clear that this was more than just a meeting. Meiko was warmly welcomed by the community, and from the moment she arrived, she behaved as though she had always belonged.

She explored her new home, tested out the dog beds thoughtfully placed in every room, curled up on the lounge rug, discovered the kitchen — her favourite space — and quietly moved in.

Today, Meiko is thriving. Her new mum reports that she has fully settled into her role, enjoying morning walks, greeting neighbours, and happily abandoning her crate in favour of the human bed. She is relaxed, confident and clearly living her very best life.

We truly believe Meiko and her new mum saved each other. As always, it’s all for the dachshunds — enjoy your forever home, sweet Meiko. You will be missed 🐾✨

ARNOLD

Meet Arnold the most adorable little chocolate boy who unfortunately just didn’t get get along with the senior lads in his family, so his former owner made the absolutely heart breaking decision to ensure his safety by asking us to find him another home where he would be loved and cared for.

Arnold lived on the coast of NSW so an urgent call was extended to one of our amazing volunteers and Arnold hitched a ride to Brisbane, we didn’t have a local carer nearby and Arnold needed to move urgently.

Arnold was fostered by a family including another little female dachshund and human siblings, the youngest being three years old.

He thrived in their care especially as the ball that Arnold loves was thrown regularly for him to catch.

Fast forward to present time and Arnold has been adopted by a lovely family who fell in love with him from the minute they met him. He has a dachshund sister called Alice Jayne and humans who understand his ball obsession and make sure Arnold has ball time to keep him happy. We are so thrilled   that Arnold has found the perfect home as always its all for the Dachshunds.

DAISY -

Not every dog who comes into our care follows a simple rescue-and-rehoming path — and Daisy’s journey is a perfect example of this.

Daisy was surrendered to All 4 Dachshunds at just 14 months old. She arrived as a very anxious, frightened young dog, displaying behaviours that were initially concerning and at times appeared aggressive. Further veterinary assessment revealed that Daisy was living with glenoid shoulder dysplasia and arthritis, conditions that explained much of her fear-based behaviour — she had been in significant pain.

Daisy underwent successful surgery, followed by a carefully managed rehabilitation program in foster care. Once she was finally pain-free, her world changed. With comfort, patience and time, Daisy began to trust again, and her true personality emerged — cheeky, curious and full of life.

After recovering exceptionally well, Daisy was ready to take the next step and find her forever home.

We’re thrilled to share that Daisy has now been adopted and is living her very best life with her loving mum, dad and canine brother. Her days are filled with backyard adventures, chasing geckos and birds, enjoying car rides and daily walks. She starts each morning with a big lick to wake her brother and loves nothing more than curling up on the lounge for a well-earned snooze.

Daisy is adored, thoroughly spoilt, and exactly where she belongs. We wish you all the happiness in the world, sweet Miss Daisy — you truly deserve it 🐾✨

SADIE - failed foster

Rosalia received a call from a fellow dachshund breeder asking whether she was still able to help rehome dogs in need — and of course, the answer was yes.

The breeder had been contacted by the owner of a dachshund puppy she had sold three years earlier. The dog, Sadie, was being returned because she had developed a habit of chasing and killing chickens. Alarmingly, if she could not be taken back, euthanasia was being considered.

When Rosalia’s friend travelled to the property, it quickly became clear why Sadie viewed the chickens as food — she had been housed in the chicken pen. Sadie was found in poor condition: covered in fleas, severely matted, underweight, with a wound to her head. She was not desexed and showed signs of having had one or more litters.

Sadie was immediately removed from the situation, bathed, flea-treated and given the care she so clearly needed. The following day, she was transported to meet Rosalia at the vet clinic, where she revealed herself to be the sweetest, most affectionate little girl, showering everyone she met with kisses.

Over the following months, Sadie was desexed, vaccinated and surrounded by love. She met many canine friends and settled beautifully into her foster home, which already included five other dogs — including one who looked remarkably like her, right down to the colouring.

We are absolutely delighted to share that Sadie will not be leaving. Her foster home has officially become her forever home. Her foster mum is now her forever mum, and her foster siblings are her family.

Sadie is loved, safe and exactly where she belongs — and we couldn’t imagine a more perfect outcome 🐾

DOUG & ZOE

Last month, our beautiful duo Doug and Zoe were searching for their forever home — and we’re delighted to share that they have now found it with Bridie and Tim.

This rehoming was a wonderful collaborative effort, working closely with Almost Home Rescue after Jools reached out to us to help find the perfect match. Following a strong response of applications and many thoughtful conversations, we provided a shortlist, and Jools arranged a meet-and-greet where Tim and Bridie met these very special little dogs.

Doug and Zoe came into care with a number of health and behavioural challenges. Zoe required a major dental procedure (grade 4) as well as desexing. Doug, meanwhile, was very unsure around men. With patience, kindness and time — and a much-loved ball — Tim quickly won Doug’s trust and heart.

Doug also required complex surgery, having retained two testes for over five years. The procedure was particularly challenging and required two veterinarians due to their location, but it was successfully completed, ensuring Doug is now protected from testicular cancer.

We couldn’t be happier for Doug and Zoe, or for their wonderful new pawrents. They have truly found the perfect home — one filled with patience, care and love — and we’re so grateful to have been part of their journey 🐾✨

HERBERT & MAX

The black and tan 11-month-old twins settled beautifully into foster care, quickly winning hearts wherever they went. Under the care of their wonderful foster mum, they enjoyed puppercinos at the Hornsby RSL club, regular walks to build their social skills, runs around the football field and plenty of zoomies through the house — generally spreading joy and mischief in equal measure. Despite their boundless energy, they also adored cuddle time and left a lasting impression on everyone lucky enough to meet them.

When Rosalia received the difficult call about their surrender, she instinctively knew there was a perfect home waiting. A two-dad family had been patiently searching for a bonded pair, with no preferences around colour, size, age, coat or gender — only that they needed a loving forever home.

Just one week later, their foster mum escorted the twins to Brisbane Airport, where they boarded a flight to their new life. Their new dads waited anxiously, shaking with excitement as they prepared to meet their “boys” for the very first time.

From the moment they met, it was love at first sight. Since then, we’ve been flooded with messages, photos and videos sharing just how adored these energetic, affectionate boys are in their new home.

We couldn’t be happier for the twins or their new dads — some matches are simply meant to be. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers who make outcomes like this possible ❤️🐾

PEYTON

A little girl from Wide Bay was transported down by volunteers by tag team to go into foster in Brisbane, her name is Peyton (now known as Pey Pey) and she is a gorgeous red standard girl.

Peyton was very stressed on the trip down but once meeting her new foster Mum and Dad, she settled and soon was enjoying her long walks with her foster Dad (her foster Dad is allergic to some dogs so it was a huge plus that he had no reaction to Peyton.).

Fast forward to a week ago, we asked her foster Mummy for an update to start to look for her forever home, but it seems she had already found it, Peyton has now been adopted by her foster parents, they are her forever parents now and they are all currently on holiday (Peyton too), in far north QLD.

Again our heartfelt thanks to our foster careers and their commitment to our little rescues. We love nothing more than seeing a successful adoption, even if we lose a carer in the process, as it’s all about the Dachshunds first ♥️

MILLY

Milly was surrendered to us with separation anxiety and also a tad under weight. We placed her with one of our fabulous foster carers, but at that stage we were not aware of how severe her need to have human company was and as our carer works part time a decision was made to move her to Judy, who has the experience to work with anxiety, crate train and who is also retired and at home most of the time.
Judy did an amazing job and fast forward to two weeks ago, Miss Milly boarded a flight to her forever home.
Her new family consist of a Mum, Dad and two human brothers, and a new fur sister, and both her new parents work from home, her new human brothers play ball with her, so Milly is one very happy little dachshund now.
Her new Mum reports that her anxiety is improving further still and that she is now a much loved member of their family. Enjoy your new life little one, we thank our foster carers and her new family for making this happen, as we all do this for the Dachshunds

Frank & Noodle -

Our two five year old Black and Tan twin boys who needed to find a new home. It was almost déjà vu for our wonderful foster carer Shailea, as only four weeks before she had had Max and Herbert the twin Black and Tan one year olds.
Frank and Noodle settled in with Shailea relearning toilet training (as they had been outside for a while and had forgotten this important part of inside living ) and also that they didn’t have to greet new people with happy nips for attention, they soon realised that everyone would share the pats and love without this silly behaviour.
Fast forward to three weeks ago, again poor Shailea put her fosters onto a flight to their new forever home as Rosalia had a lovely gentleman and his Dad who had recently lost their beautiful standard boy to old age, on the wait list. Their new home had an existing fur brother so it was fingers crossed that everyone would be happy with the new additions. We are told the new family unit is working well and both Frankie and Noodle love their new BIG fur brother and their Dad and Granddad and are looking forward to going on holiday to the “shack” out on acreage in the near future. Again we thank our wonderful foster carer and also the people who open their homes and hearts to give our rescues a new forever home

BUDDY

Buddy came into foster care as he was annoying all the neighbours with his barking as all he wanted was to be inside with human company. Buddy had suffered an IVDD episode and through conservative treatment has recovered enough to be mobile with an unusual gait. He also suffers from a skin allergy and had fur loss from this when our volunteer picked him up.
Once in foster care, his foster mum immediately took him to her local vet for a full check-up and treatment. Buddy was prescribed antibiotics and anti-allergy medication for his skin and with a good diet and the meds his skin improved. Buddy then went to our usual vet for his vaccinations, desex and also had x-rays etc to assess his level of recovery from his earlier IVDD
Meanwhile we were made aware of a lovely Lady who had lost her last elderly dachshund to illness and was very sad and lonely. This lady has had Dachshunds all her life and had considerable
experience with IVDD as well as skin allergies and was not at all perturbed about Buddy’s ongoing care, she just wanted a friend and was eager to meet him. Our wonderful foster Mum took Buddy for a meet and greet which resulted in Buddy staying in his new home as it was love at first sight for both of them.
Buddy has many beds scattered over the house and spends his days inside being the best companion he can to his new Mum .......neither of them are lonely any more.
