Dachshunds have been a cherished part of my life since childhood. It all began with my family’s first dachshund, who quickly became a beloved member of our home. Their spirited personalities, intelligence, and charm captured my heart and sparked a lifelong bond with this unique breed.
Over time, my love for dachshunds grew into a deeper commitment. I became actively involved with rescue groups, combining my passion for these dogs with a mission to help those in need. Working alongside fellow enthusiasts, I’ve had the privilege of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dachshunds facing challenging circumstances.
Each rescue journey has been incredibly rewarding, as I’ve witnessed dachshunds thrive with love, patience, and care. These experiences have also allowed me to educate others about the breed’s specific needs and quirks, ensuring every dachshund finds the forever home they deserve.
Today, as I care for my own dachshunds, I remain dedicated to rescue efforts and advocacy for this remarkable breed. My journey with dachshunds has shaped my life in countless ways, and my commitment to their well-being continues to grow with every dachshund whose life is forever changed.
Meet Sarah - Treasurer
Growing up surrounded by dachshunds, my love for this incredible breed began early. As a child, our family was always accompanied by a group of spirited black-and-tan dachshunds, each with their unique charm.
I met Rosalie over seven years ago, and that’s when my journey into fostering began. Like many, I couldn’t resist the pull of a foster fail, and my first was the beautiful Miss Zimba, a stunning silver dapple who quickly stole my heart.
Today, I’m proudly owned by two dachshunds: Miss Indi, a regal long-haired lady, and Master Loki, a mischievous wire-haired gent. My dachshunds are my travel companions, joining us on caravan adventures and adding joy to every journey.
Being part of All4Dachshunds is deeply fulfilling. Helping these wonderful dogs find their forever homes is a privilege. Dachshunds bring their owners immense happiness and endless unconditional love, with personalities as diverse as they are delightful.
From energetic little pocket rockets full of sass to snuggle bunnies who thrive on soft cushions and cozy naps, dachshunds never fail to brighten the lives of everyone they meet.
A Life Dedicated to Dachshunds
For over 17 years, I’ve been devoted to rescuing dachshunds, sharing my life with these incredible little dogs. Currently, I’m proud to be “owned” by 8 dachshunds and serve as the legal guardian of three more. My pack includes some wheelie boys, IVDD dogs, and others requiring long-term care for various challenges.
Each one has a special place in my heart. In order of seniority, my crew includes Maximilian (Taralyn Mr Magic), Sally, Frank, Shobi, Waddles, Leil, Dotti, and Lincoln.
My journey into dachshund rescue began when I helped a local breeder rehome her dogs during a difficult family split. After exhausting my network of family and friends, I reached out to Sharman Moore, who had just founded Dachshund Rescue Australia. We teamed up to find loving homes for these dogs, and from there, my involvement only deepened. Over the years, I became part of two rescue groups, eventually connecting with our current All4Dachshunds committee, united by the simple mission: “It’s all for the dogs.”
What do I love most about dachshunds? Their incredible ability to mend a broken heart with unconditional love and endless cuddles, no matter how tough the day has been. And what do I love least? Honestly, nothing! Although it would be nice if they could embrace the idea of peeing outside in the rain. 😄
These little dogs are my passion and purpose, and I’m honored to continue supporting their care, rescue, and rehoming through All4Dachshunds.

My Journey with Dachshunds
Dogs have always been a part of my life, and that didn’t change when I became an adult. Eighteen years ago, I welcomed my first dachshund cross, a Cocker Spaniel named Snoopy.
Through Snoopy, I discovered dachshund social groups on Facebook, which opened the door to the wonderful world of dachshunds. It was there that I learned about the unique challenges the breed can face and the importance of rescue efforts. Meeting others in the dachshund community, I quickly developed a deep love for these incredible little dogs.
Twelve years ago, Chumley joined our family, bringing his own charm and personality into our lives. Although we’ve since said goodbye to Snoopy, who has crossed over the rainbow bridge, our newest addition, Humphrey, has fit in seamlessly. Now, I can’t imagine life without a dachshund (or two!) by my side.
Having been part of the dachshund community for 18 years, becoming actively involved in fundraising for this amazing breed was a natural next step. This passion eventually led me to join the All4Dachshunds committee, where I’m proud to support these wonderful dogs and the people who love them.
Meet Lauren – Director of IT & Social Media
My first encounter with a dachshund was when I was just two years old— and it left quite the mark! A senior dachshund bit me on the face, but instead of being afraid, I found myself fascinated by their quirky nature. Some might call it Stockholm Syndrome, but I call it love.
In May 2020, during lockdown, I welcomed my soul dog, Albert, into my life. His sister, Lucy, joined us in September 2021. These two have been my constant companions, helping me through dark days with their unconditional love and hilarious antics. Through them, I discovered the incredible dachshund community and built connections with amazing people and businesses.
My passion for social media and love for volunteering eventually led me to All4Dachshunds, where I started helping with their online presence. After a few months of volunteering, I am honoured to step into the role of Director of IT & Social Media. I’m so excited to use my skills to raise awareness for this beloved breed and support the rescue’s mission.
