MEET THE TEAM

Rosalia - Chairperson

I have been rescuing Dachshunds for over 12 yrs and I am currently owned by 6 and I am Legal  guardian of three, I have two Wheelie boys, one with no sight, one with congestive heart failure, three with IVDD, two of those have had surgery, and the other two had other problems needing long time care.

Their names are in order of seniority in our house, Maximilian (Taralyn Mr Magic), Baxter, Pumpkin (johnsanna Pumpkin), Skipper, Sally, Frank, Roy, Shobi and Waddles.  I also currently have a foster girl so we have ten at present.

I started out in rescue with helping a local breeder re home some of her Dachshunds due to a family split and literally ran out of family and friends to take the babies. I then approached Sharman Moore who had just started Dachshund Rescue Australia and paired up with her to find homes.  The rest is history, I was a member of two different rescue groups and I finally met our current committee and with our goal of "it’s all for the dogs," our current All4dachshunds Rescue was formed.

My favourite trait is how they mend a broken heart by just being there, no matter how bad your day is they are there to cuddle and love you unconditionally. My least favourite trait is nothing ....I love these guys back unconditionally too.....but it would be nice if they could pee outside in the rain lol

Shailea - Director

Hi, I’m Shailea nutritionist, chef and lover of all thing’s natural health and nourishing food. How I become a part of the All4dachshund family you asked…. Like most of our other committee the pure love of wanting to help this long bodied and big personality breed. My journey started as doggo auntie/sitter to four sassy girls Audree, Lilly, Mollie and Sylvie Rose (@the_four.roses) It was love at first sight! when I found out the Anne was one of the founding members of this rescue and rehoming organisation dedicated to helping this wonderful breed of dogs, I knew I had to help in some way and that was putting my doggo sitting skill to good use and started fostering.

I had some tough fosters, from VERY active puppy brothers to malnourished and extreme anxiety girls. But they filled my heart with so much joy knowing that what I was doing am giving them a between home filled with lots of home cooked nourishing food (yes they eat like kings and Queens in my care), walks, cuddles and spoiling them with trips to the local café for puppochinos ! while they wait for their forever homes.

When I was offered to come join the All4dachshunds committee and become the foster carer co-ordinator I was ecstatic as I now can help our fur babies even more. When we receive updates of our adopted babies 3 months down the track loving life with their forever families, I know that this organisation is something special

Michelle - Director

Number of years being owned by dachshunds: 19

Current dachshunds:
Sophy - 14 in July (survived cancer and 2 x herniated disc surgeries)
Laynee - 10 yrs
Monty - 7 yrs

Favourite trait: Hard to pick a favourite trait but I think waking up in the morning and the absolute delight and excitement when Monty realises I am awake. And the absolute love they have for their humans.

Least favourite: stubbornness
Laynee is our failed foster. I have always been an animal lover and always donated towards any cause animal related. Since moving to Australia I have become involved through Shelley in raising funds for dachshund rescue & re-homing.

If they could have 1 superpower what would it be? What do you mean 1 superpower? They are already full of them 😂. But I think the superpower they would love the most is to be tall enough to open the fridge and help themselves

Morgan - Director

 Name: Morgan
Number of years being owned by dachshunds: 8

Current dachshunds:
Sophie - 8
George - 6

Favourite dachshund trait: For always being there for me
Least dachshund favourite: their barking

What made you get into rescuing & rehoming? One of the other committee members is my mum and we all know how persuasive mothers can be 🤣... next thing I knew I was on the committee. But honestly, am so very happy to help such a wonderful & caring genuine bunch of women

If dachshunds could have 1 superpower what would it be? They already have all the superpowers to control me haha would love if they could talk to us when they aren’t well so we can know how to help them!

Tanamera - Director

For as long as I can remember, our family has always had a dog. That didn’t change for me as an adult, and 14 years ago I got my first dachshund cross  Cocker Spaniel, Snoopy.

From there we joined dachshund social groups on Facebook and so began my journey with dachshunds.  This is where I became aware  of  dachshund rescue and the  issues that the breed can have.  Meeting people within the dachshund community, I quickly developed a deep love for the breed.  So now I have two, adding Chumley ( Black and Tan) to my household 8 years ago. Both Snoopy and Chumley are now the loves of my life. I can’t imagine being without a dachshund now.

Having enjoyed being a part of the dachshund community for 14 years now, it seemed only natural that I would become involved in raising funds for our amazing breed,  so together with  a friend, we started our dachshund group, Dachshunds of the Gold Coast Meet up Group, and we chose to raise funds for dachshund rescue.

We chose to support All4dachshunds because of their integrity & uncompromising passion of putting the dogs first, with many years experience. They welcomed our fundraising efforts.  Now I’m on the committee with All4dachshunds Rescue and Rehoming, I’m looking forward to being even more involved.
